When and how to Use VPN
What is VPN
VPN stands for Virtual Private Network. AnyConnect is a software that creates a VPN across the internet to all you to securely connect to a network. It adds a layer of protection when you are using your computer on a public internet.
When to Use VPN
Anytime you are using a public WIFI or internet connection, you should use AnyConnect. If you are logging into email, entering credentials for your bank, doing online banking, shopping and entering credit card information, all of this data can be extracted by threat actors while you are on a public Wi-Fi connection. This would include airports, restaurants/coffee shops, libraries, hotels, any public area that has a Wi-Fi network that you are connected to. This excludes your home or private WIFI that you trust as long as it is not "open" and has an encrypted key/passcode. Once connected to AnyConnect you can do anything you need to do on your computer or phone and know your data is secured and that your credentials or information will be protected.
Using AnyConnect
AnyConnect is installed on all Huse Culinary Computers and can be installed on your mobile devices via App or Play store
It will be located on your taskbar
NOTE: If you need to have AnyConnect installed submit a ticket and the Technology team will install
Click on the icon and the following will open, Click on Connect
When you Connect to AnyConnect you will be prompted to provide your Microsoft credentials (email address) and current computer password and will have to authenticate.
You will receive a confirmation that you are connected, clip Accept
You will see a connection box briefly appear at the bottom right of your screen
To Disconnect, click the AnyConnect icon, click the Disconnect button
